Where to stay in St Ives Bay

The approach by train to St. Ives leads through Lelant and Carbis Bay, along an exquisite coastline of sand dunes and steep wooded cliffs. A Park-and-Ride facility operates from Lelant Saltings, allowing visitors to enjoy both journey and the town in the most relaxed way possible.

Carbis Bay Beach is wide and sheltered and has soft golden sand. It is an ideal beach for families with young children while water-skiing and windsurfing can be enjoyed by the more adventurous.

The Lelant area is spread out between the main road and the Hayle Estuary. Lelant's handsome Church stands on grass-covered sand dunes adjacent to a golf links and above the huge tidal expanse of Porth Kidney sands at the mouth of the Hayle River.

Both Carbis Bay and Lelant have general stores, shops and first class restaurants and pubs.

St. Ives Bay and Mount's Bay have been elected to 'The Most Beautiful Bays in the World' club.

The prestigious world-wide association currently has 28 bays in membership and St. Ives and Mount's Bays are the only Bays (at the time of writing) in England to qualify.

Along with others, St. Ives and Mount's Bays are now promoted in appropriate literature listed along with Cape Cod and San Fransisco Bay in the USA; Paria Bay, Venezuela and Santorin Bay in Greece.
